CHRISTMAS

🎄 CHRISTMAS 🎅🏻
It's me ho ho ho ho
Well, and now my favourite period! CHRISTMAS. What can I say about it? When I was a child, I was excited about this time even from the first days of November on... and this feeling remains now.
I love watching the Christmas lights, every year I go with my mother to Madrid, Barrio de Salamanca better than Puerta del Sol and so on, and we park the car and we stay there until the lights are turned on. I love all kind of Christmas songs, Spanish, American, French, old and current ones. When I was  younger we used to go to Guadalajara to watch the Three Wise Men, they had ducks, elephants, horses. This "cabalgata" is not as big as the on in Madrid, but it is not so crowdy and we could see Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar pefectly.

I also spend a happy time decorating the Christmas tree. My family also places a big "Belén" that belonged to my grandmother.  Of course, I also like receiving presents, but I like more buying them for my family. My mother says to me that she feels very proud because I like Christmas that much, she says it means that I had a happy and comfortable childhood.
This is me as a child with the Three Wise Men
Leaving food and drink for the kings
Opening my presents

Well, now I am going to speak about the task that my teacher has asked us to do. It consist in creating an activity related to Christmas time, that we, as early chilhood educators would propose to be done in a Nursery School with children up to 5 years old.
My team, Elmer the Elephant, decided to do a stamping Christmas workshop, intended for children from 4 to 5 years. With this workshop, besides promoting the creativity and autonomy of the children while using the sponges to stamp, we wanted to teach about quantities: small/big - a lot of/a few, etc.
We were asked to include a Christmas song in the activity, the one chosen by us is called: "5 Candy Canes". We will not only sing it, but also dance it with the steps we have prepared.
For the activity we will need the following materials: sponges with different sizes, finger paints, painting trays, continuous paper and cleaning wipes for the children to clean their hands by following the correct way of washing hands.
The members of the team will be wearing a Christmas headband.

Diary of the "Christmas" activity

Week  of 7-13 November

On the 7th. we wrapped boxes that we collected, to pretend they are Christmas presents, to decorate the classroom during our presentation.

The day after, I could not attend the class, as I had an interview for a job, but the other members of my group kept on wrapping boxes. They also created a shooting star also for the decoration of the classroom for the activity.

On Nov. 9th., we created a chimney. Well, summarizing, we spent the week  all the decoration objects.

Week of 14-20 November

On Monday 14th., we worked on the Google document and we kept on with the decoration, mostly Christmas socks. We also start preparing our big Christmas tree created with egg-cups.

Next day I looked for the clothes that we will wear during the perfomance and finally we decided that we will be wearing these headbands:

We will be very charming with them!!

November 16th., we created the candy canes that will be hanging on our super Christmas tree that was little by little  getting a real tree!!

Week of 21-27 November

Our Christmas tree was all done!

After that we started to prepare the sponges with Christmas relating objects that the children will use for stamping on the continuous paper. We also continue wrapping boxes.

Tuesday 22nd., once we hade the sponges cut we did some stamping trials, to ckeck that they were well done.  We distributed the tasks of the activity between the members of the group.

The day after, we prepared the cardboard for the coupons for the children.

Week of 28 November-4 December

During the 28th. I worked very hard on the powerpoint presentation, while my team was setting the Christmas socks on the chimney and preparing the continuous paper on which we painted a Christmas tree with a marker pen. The children will stamp with the sponges on this Christmas tree.

On the next day,we organized the performance, we created the steps to dance 5 Candy Canes song and we finished the cardboard of the coupons.

On Dec. 3rd., I kept on working on the powerpoint presentation.

Week of 5-11 December

On the 8th. at home,  I prepared  the cardboard for the parents to get them to know the activities of their children during the Christmas week. I also prepared the Christmas cards that our 5 classmates (acting as 5 children)  will use during the perfomance.

Week of 12-19 December

Dec. 12th and 13th, the other working teams presented their tasks and I really enjoy them  a lot. I participated in some of them acting as a child and I received a certificate and some bombons.

I am sure it was a really hard job for them because we had exams on both days.
So, good for you girls!!
Also on the 13th., I finished at home the Christmas cardboard for the parents.

And then... was Elmer the Elephant's turn!

I am almost sure that we also made a very good job, everything ran smoothly and we really had a good time with it. We suddenly realized that the performance  had finished. With no stops, no doubts, as already said, well performed, I am very proud of our performance.
Actually, I am not only proud of our performance, I am also very proud of each member of the team. We all have worked during the past months with the same enthusiasm and all with the same efforts. We have worked very hard, sometimes even stressing as we also had many other activities to create and many lessons to study, but we have also laughed a lot with our ideas and spent times of fun with the projects.
